OCMC MISSIONARIES FROM THE PAST
Through the years we have had many very qualified missionaries come
to Romania to assist us in our projects. This is not a complete list, but
includes the one's for whom we have pictures available.
In 2002 Doug Hadley visited our
program and helped us greatly by
teaching the staff about addictions
patients at the psychiatric hospital in
Cluj.
In 2005 short term missionary Bob
Born did a super job in training about
working with addicted populations in
the prison system. He has maintained
good contact with us, and even today
helps us by sharing with us new
information and articles about
addictions work.
Also in 2006, Stephanie Trefon from
Alaska shared her teachings about the
"spirituality of love" with my staff and
with the patients at Savadisla and
Borsa. Here she is at one of the famous
painted monasteries in Moldova.
who did some very nice trainings in are
effected by addictions. Here she is
conference in Cluj in 2006. Felice also
works with the homeless at a shelter in
Arizona.
Our "little brother" Zac O'Dell stayed with us here
in Romania for two summers, doing various jobs
and tasks. His work was much appreciated, and
we hope to see him again, after he finishes his
university. Zac is an example for all young
people who follow Christ. Here you see him in
the Transilvanian Alps.
Many other teams have come over
and helped with youth programs in
the archdiocese. This one came in
2001, and you see Fr. Gregory
Matthews-Green in the center,
dedicated people. Many from this
group stays in contact with us
even today.
Last but not least by any means is Zan
Kringle. She was in Romania when I arrived
in 2000, and was children who were living on
the streets here Cluj at that time. Here you
see her with long term OCMC missionary
Craig Goodwin (now Fr. James) preparing to
take food to the street kids. The "soup
kitchen" which she established  in 2004
continues to feed around 70 people per day.
We hope that she can return to us soon.
On the right we see Fr. Aris Makacatis
visiting our recovery group at the
tuberculosis hospital in Savadisla. Fr
Aris has come to Romania many times
to do youth work with the archdiocese,
and we hope to see him during 2008.
Steve Sheroky came to us in 2003
to do training in rehabilitation
counseling. Here he is seen
(second from right) with His
Eminence Daniel of the Iasi
archdiocese. We still continue with
the work that he helped establish
in Iasi.
Seen second from left is Paula Silvianos
with some of our ladies from the
Savadisla hospital group.  Her smile and
her personality was a boost to the
spirits of everyone in our program, and
her training program in education was
helpful to my staffs development.
In 2003 short term OCMC missionaries
Art, M
arcia, Diana and Rhonda came to
us and shared their own experience,
strength and hope with our patient
groups. They Cluj and Craiova. Here
you see them as guests of Bishop
Vasilie, in Cluj.
